"We cannot continue to participate in the social network feed of a man who proclaims the death of the media and therefore of journalists... X is a platform that no longer serves the public interest at all, but the special ideological and financial interests of its owner and his political allies" thelondoneconomic.com/news/med…

Little late, i'd say. He already got what he wanted from his 44 billion investment. Maybe those journalists would be more usefully served by investigating why.
in reply to Taylor Lorenz

It has been that case since he took over, but none of the journalists would listen…

@Taylor Lorenz What profit are they expecting from the extra month of waiting for January 20?

brill stuff! Good to see certain professional communities acting with a spine

It might also lead to less pressure on and self-censorship at European editorial offices

EFJ represents 295,000 journalists. Crucial question: will a large part of those 295,000 journalists follow suit?

Otherwise, what's the point?

For an industry that's supposed to provide well-sourced and up-to-date information on current events, it's interesting how slow on the uptake it's been in general.

we also need to discuss people flocking to bluesky in its stead. No matter the tech, the people behind the new Twitter, are the Twitter people. They would sell up again if the price is right.
in reply to Taylor Lorenz

people are STILL going to be saying this 2,4, even 6 years from now. Twitter is absolute shite, but it’s not going to die anytime soon. Anyone else growing tired of reading “yet another reason Twitter sucks” article every single week?

Might be a hot take, but maybe large money political donors, those associated with the government, and politicians shouldn't own massive social media platforms.

Yes, even the disconnected controller that is the "department of governmental efficiency" counts.

In fact, if you work for a political party that counts too.

Wait a Minute!!
Any journalist worthy of the title whom remained on shitter after Muskrat began slewing it hard right into Nazism is a fool that is addicted to numbers.

Hanging around in a cess pool because ‘everyone else’ is there or being some obsessive clown about follower numbers only shows how useless those so called journalists are.

Elon has some bizarre views on how the world should function. However, he did make it possible to produce the most popular and American made EV in the world.
in reply to Taylor Lorenz

literally, what took them so long? Surely being perceptive is a fundamental journalistic requirement?
in reply to Taylor Lorenz

Yes...BooBee....that is correct
It has always been Elon's Dream, he financed it with OPM ,OTHER PEOPLES MONEY, threatened the Banks with disaster, did as he pleased, helped a Sociopath to the presidency ?
Again ? This is Elon's dream....

So many on here are also still on there. I just don't get that they don't get the moral aspect of it.

Musk must translate to Skum in some ancient European language that Elon originates from

the whole thing, is what you call, 911 nazi scam. It started with the FCC,an Spam law. They were first in breaking the US Constitution, an no one stopped them, all of a sudden, everyone on internet had to have subscription in order to email spam, or they would firewall you. WEll, time went by, internet grew, and then , they were firewalling the wrong people. Causing all kinds of bankruptcy to people that were not doing spam, and today, they keep doing it, Making people go home with no money. And they did nothing wrong. Now you have elon musk, being an ass hole, for Bill Gates and the mess he created. no one, should have terms and conditions, It breaks freedom of speech, and the gov, does not belong on the internet
